Christmas fucking rules. I think most people agree.
For Christmas, I decided to write about some of my own Christmases and the video game related gifts I have gotten throughout the years.
In 2006, the hottest Christmas item was the Nintendo Wii. They were extremely hard to find.
Not PS5 or Xbox Series X hard to find, but hard nonetheless. There were lines outside all of the major department stores of the small-town area I grew up in.
I thought there was absolutely no way we were getting one and my mom had assured us that she tried and tried but never was able to find one.
So come Christmas morning, I was not expecting to receive a Wii. I had accepted it and was trying to not to be a spoiled brat and just be thankful for what my parents got me.
Just like every Christmas, my parents had gotten us a ton of wonderful things and sure enough there was no Nintendo Wii in sight.
My mom being my mom is one of the most over-the-top, in a good way, women I know. She is the best, and obviously had a trick up her sleeve.
She reached behind our couch and pulled out one last box. My brother and I opened it to find a Nintendo Wii.
Come to find out that one of the people standing out trying to grab a Nintendo Wii was my uncle standing out in the cold. (Big thanks to Uncle Chris, you made our Christmas)
It was absolutely hype. My brother and I played Wii Sports for days. A great Christmas, no doubt.
One other story I have is years later in 2014, the PlayStation 4 was notoriously hard to find.
I didn’t expect to get one, and this time, I am sorry to admit I was being a bit of a brat. Not directly to my mom, but to my friends, there were multiple times I talked about how mad I’d be if I didn’t get one.
Luckily, the anger was quelled and the spoiled brat got what he wanted. I got a PS4 and was absolutely hyped to play Knack. (I have no idea why.)
It is probably my favorite console of all time and the one I played the most on.
Throughout the years, I have gotten a ton of games and consoles that I will always be thankful for in making me love video games.
I will always be thankful for my mom for always making our Christmases as kids incredible. Thanks mom.
With that, I hope everyone has a good holiday season. To everyone who celebrates, merry Christmas.
I am looking forward to a new year and many more articles to come. As always, thanks to everyone for taking the time to read.
